We are delighted to announce crowd safety expert Roy Wise has joined our team.

Roy will operate as Head of Operations for Crowd Safety Training for the North of England, just as we gear-up to deliver the only Level 5 Crowd Safety Management Diploma available in the UK.

Roy has been working with crowds for three decades and has had experience at all levels of crowd management. His most recent posting was Head of Resourcing for Showsec where he was responsible for 4 managers, 6 supervisors and 4,000 casual staff who needed to be recruited, trained and booked for work on a national (and sometimes international) level.

Roy came into the event industry under the tutorship of Mick Upton in the early 90’s. He became Training and Development Manager for Showsec and when Mick retired in 1999, Mick handed Roy the ‘training wing’ which has gone on to provide education for thousands of candidates every year.

In 2006 Roy became one of the first crowd managers to undertake the new Foundation Degree in Crowd Safety Management at Buckinghamshire University and subsequently went on to lecture on the same course. In 2014 Roy was instrumental in the writing of the National Occupational Standards for the Event Safety Operative (ESO) which has become a standard for the industry.

With 30 years’ experience of Training, Operational management, security consultancy and event coordination Roy is considered an expert in his field of crowd management.

CEO Andy Hollinson commented, “We are excited to have Roy join our team. His broad experience and background will be a great asset for both our team and our clients as we continue to grow.”

“This is an incredibly exciting time for our team, launching our Level 5 Diploma and confirming our position as the leading provider of Crowd Safety Training Apprenticeships in the UK. The addition of Roy to our team is really testament to our reputation and growing portfolio.”

Our existing Crowd Safety trainer Robbie Naish will become Head of Operations for Crowd Safety Training in the South of England; continuing his excellent work with clients to develop, facilitate and deliver crowd safety training programmes.

A big warm welcome to Roy from everyone at The Square Metre – we look forward to an exciting 2018!
